Over Nerja
In het centrum van de stad vind je de meest beeldige structuren. Het Balkon van Europa, een balkon boven een klif dat over de zee kijkt, geeft je een adembenemend uitzicht. De typisch Andalusische oude stad is vol met witte huisjes en straten met kiezels. Sommige huisjes hebben hun mooie typisch Andalusische terrassen behouden.
Het Balkon van Europa staat op een klif en was oorspronkelijk gemaakt om Britse piraten buiten te houden. Vandaag is het het centraal punt van de stad. Het is de centrale plaats voor verschillende concerten en 'fiestas' doorheen het hele jaar waaronder het niet te missen nieuwjaar met vuurwerk en muziek tot in de vroege uurtjes. De meeste processies door de straten van nerja, starten of eindigen vaan op het Balkon van Europa.

Een perfecte uitstap voor de familie is de Rio Chillar in Nerja. Het is een van de weinige wandelingen die je perfect kan doen tijdens de warmste dagen van de Andalusische zomer.
De wandeling biedt veel schaduw en als je de rivier hoger opwandelt kan je zwemmen in het kristal helder water.
Ook kom je tijdens de wandeling verschillende watervallen tegen.
De totale afstand van de rivier is rond de 8 km vanaf het oude cement fabriek + 2 km van de parking tot aan het cement fabriek.
OPGEPAST! Doe deze wandeling nooit na hevige regen of als er regen op komst is. Als het slecht weer is zal er een vloed van water stromen tussen de smalle grotten.
De Grotten van Nerja (Cuevas de Nerja) bestaan uit verschillende grote gotten en bezit de grootste stalagmiet ter wereld met 32m hoogte en 13 op 7 m als basis.
De ontdekking :Op 12 January 1959, 5 jongens die in Maro wonen beslissen om te gaan jagen op five local boys from the village of Maro decided to go hunting for bats and headed for a pothole known locally as ‘La Mina’ where they spent the night watching a great number of these creatures exiting through the hole in the rocks. Excited by their find, they went back to tell their family, friends and teachers but it wasn’t until the cave was visited by a medical expert and a photographer that the true extent of their discovery became apparent.
For €15, You can take the cueva tren (see picture) from Nerja to the caves (15 min) and entrance to the caves and Nerja museum.

Kayaking/ Paddle
During the summer period Kayaking along the coast is a very popular activity and undoubtedly the best way to appreciate the beauty of the cliffs and secluded coves of the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo natural park.

Educare Aventura is situated at the far end of Burriana beach, just beside the famous Restaurante Ayo - a great place to treat yourself to a well deserved paella afterwards.
Diving/ scuba/ snorkeling
The Nerja Diving Centre can be found midway along Burriana beach amongst the various bars and restaurants and is a 5 Star PADI instructor centre. It has plenty of activities for you to choose from including snorkeling trips for the less adventurous, starter PADI courses for first timers, Professional courses, night dives and equipment rental. Marine life includes octopuses,conger eels, lobsters, groupers, sunfish, wrasse, scorpionfish, sailfish, swordfish, dolphins, silver fish, nudibranchs, flora, faunaand corals.
